Love You Like a Sister

Gr 3–6—When it is just your mom and you, with the occasional card from your dad since the divorce, a twosome is normal. But suddenly, not only is Avery's dad back in the picture, he's also bringing along a fiancée and three soon-to-be stepsisters. And he wants Avery and all three new stepsiblings to be bridesmaids in his wedding. Avery tries to make the best of an awkward situation, but things prove difficult when her three stepsisters make it clear they are not interested in bonding. Every attempt at friendship ends in hilarious disaster. With a little help from the adults in her life, Avery finds that there's room enough for everyone in her expanding family. This is a breezy and humorous tale with relatable characters and situations. Refreshingly, the portrayal of divorced parents is positive and models strong and supportive blended families.
