Baby-Toddler–It’s spring, and the Peanuts gang is excited for the upcoming Easter holiday. In this adaptation of the animated special, Marcie heads over to Peppermint Patty’s to decorate some Easter eggs for the first time. Charlie Brown, Sally, Linus, and Lucy are having classic sibling arguments over the Easter Beagle. Lucy insists they need to buy baskets and candy, while Linus argues that the Easter Beagle handles that for them. The friends run into each other at the store, where Snoopy is captivated by the displays. As expected, Snoopy’s excitement for the holiday wins out, and the Easter Beagle saves the day. Patrons who are fans of Peanuts, those wanting to introduce the characters to their children, or those wanting a lightweight path to talking about egg dyeing and egg hunting will enjoy this title.
VERDICT Libraries looking to add Easter titles beyond the common rabbit picture books or religious depictions will want to add this to their collections. Most libraries will find this an additional purchase.
