Baby-Toddler–Fans of the TV show
Bluey won’t be disappointed with this Easter holiday edition picture book. Easter is here, and siblings Bluey and Bingo embark on a chocolate egg–hunting adventure. Bingo is dispirited and thinks the Easter bunny has forgotten about them. However, they notice a couple clues: a letter and a box. They run out to the yard to look for an egg in the mailbox, but find an origami chatterbox instead. They keep finding more clues that lead to more clues, while running into more disappointment. Undeterred, the siblings keep trying until Bingo, utterly dejected, wonders if the Easter Bunny just likes other children more than her. Still, Bluey and Bingo don’t give up. A kiwi clue leads to a kiwi rug to an arrow pointing outside. The sisters work their way to the sandcastle in the yard, and Bluey starts digging in the sand, which reveals a roll of toilet paper. That clue leads them to the bathroom, which shows a pattern drawn on the steamed sink mirror. It’s the same pattern as their bedroom’s stained window, so the sisters run to their room. That’s the moment the siblings notice the Easter Bunny’s footprints leading them to Dad’s office. There, they discover a big, glowing Easter basket! This lift-the-flap-book may require supervision of toddlers who might enjoy pulling on the paper flaps a bit too hard.
VERDICT A fun, engaging picture book that teaches children the important lessons of patience and persistence.
