It's not often that a freebie is something valuable and useful, but it does happen. Case in point: the workshops being offered by Vernier Software & Technology. Starting next month, the company is hosting 34 free, hands-on workshops to help science and STEM educators learn how to use and integrate the latest data-collection technology into their curriculum. During the four-hour sessions, which will be held at cities all around the country, Vernier trainers will guide attendees through classroom-ready experiments using their hardware, software, and mobile technology for physics, chemistry, biology, environmental science, Earth science, and middle school science. Workshop attendees have the option of earning two (quarter) graduate science credit hours through the Portland State University Center for Science Education. Each workshop also includes a light meal and an electronic copy of Vernier’s Workshop Training Manual, which includes ready-to-use lab handouts for all science disciplines.
