Check Out SLJ’s National Poetry Month Pinterest Board

Teen librarian Dawn Abron curates a poetry-themed Pinterest board filled with ideas for programming, displays, and more.
Teen librarian Dawn Abron has curated a poetry-themed Pinterest board filled with ideas for programming, displays, and more for National Poetry Month in April. The board includes more than 60 pins divided into multiple sections, including books in verse, titles with teen poets, program ideas, websites, and displays. Some of Abron’s favorite ideas include Hot Pepper Shakespeare. When her library held a short program a couple of years ago, attendees really enjoyed the challenge of trying to get through a sonnet after eating a jalapeño. Also, for those looking to do something artsy, easy, and cheap, painting a poem on a canvas, is a no-brainer. Students and patrons can use their favorite song lyrics if they don't want to do poetry. For these ideas and more, visit the National Poetry Month board. Feel free to pin more suggestions! Dawn Abron is the teen services and creative space coordinator at the Zion-Benton Public Library in Zion, IL. She is a maker, a Slytherin, a YA book blogger, and the YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association) Teen Programming HQ Manager.
