Gr 7 Up—In a modern world in which witches and witchcraft are regulated (and often discriminated against), this sequel to Burn Mark (Bloomsbury, 2012) finds teen witches Lucas and Glory working for WICA-Britain's agengy of Witchkind Intelligence and Covert Affairs. They are sent to infiltrate a boarding school in Switzerland, hoping to uncover ties to a witch-terrorist organization. They get more than they bargain for when they find out about a dangerous new operation that can remove a witch's fae (power). Fans of the first book will enjoy further insights into Lucas's and Glory's personalities, though many of the other characters are a bit one-dimensional. International espionage, fantastical witchwork, and even some romance are present in this exciting, fast-paced read that will appeal to fans of Robert Muchamore's "Cherub" series (S & S), as well as to urban fantasy seekers.—Jenny Berggren, formerly at New York Public Library
