In this context, the song reminds readers that it takes effort to keep the light shining when times are tough, but there are always people around who will try to help. The pictures show a variety of people in a familiar settings, including a family with a mom, dad, sister, and brother. It’s a charming reworking of a familiar song that will appeal to young children.
VERDICT A warmly illustrated version of an old song, this will be a welcome addition to libraries serving the young.
