This Is the Path the Wolf Took

K-Gr 2–Gabe is reading “Little Red Riding Hood” to his sister Mia, but wants to skip over all the scary bits so he introduces “Sir Gabriel, Slayer of Dragons” into the plot. Just as the horrible wolf gets to grandmother’s house, the brave knight sends the wolf whimpering back down the path. Mia is none too pleased at this dull turn of events and a chastised Gabe moves on to “The Three Little Pigs.” Once again, that pesky knight saves the day before any homes are destroyed or pigs go running off in terror. Mia, disgusted and bored, tells Gabe she doesn’t like his stories and walks away. Gabe begins to realize that his stories are, in fact, dull, so he creates a new story to tell Mia. This time, he allows the knight to confront the wolf and even for the knight to be a tiny bit scared, but it will come as no surprise that everyone lives happily ever after.
