They collect their backpacks and outfits for the next day from the animal conductors of the train. They assemble items, such as school supplies, school lunches, and snacks, and get excited for recess as they finally drift off to sleep. This book features short, simple rhyming sentences on each page. An onomatopoeia of train sounds, such as “Chugga! Chugga!” and “Toot! Toot!” are also featured on every spread. Illustrations are beautiful and bright, with blue tones to help lull readers to a sleepy, but excited, bedtime.
VERDICT Perfect for the younger crowd to get them excited about going to school, or for a back-to-school storytime.
