Toddler-PreS–Frank the dog is snuggled in his bed when he is awakened by his friend Mouse, who has lost her bedtime book and cannot go to sleep without it. Frank offers to use his nose to help her search for it. They follow the scent trail to a series of animal friends who have passed along the book to Baby Hedgehog, and although Mouse is sad to lose her book, she doesn’t want to take the book away from Baby Hedgehog. Frank decides to share his bedtime book with Mouse to make her feel better, and, coincidentally, it turns out they share the same favorite bedtime book. Full-bleed illustrations presented in a high-contrast 2-D paper collage style pair with the text for a subtle yet heartfelt story of friendship and empathy.
VERDICT Recommended as a general purchase.
