Sunrise Nights

Gr 9 Up–This is a heartwarming romance and coming-of-age story told over the course of three summer nights, each one a year after the other. The performance by Crouch and Hunter perfectly encapsulates the story of two teens, Jude and Florence, who are dealing with severe anxiety (Jude) and a life-altering degenerative disease (Florence). They find each other on sunrise night, an all-night closing celebration at their summer camp, and decide to spend this night together walking around and learning more about each other with one rule: they can’t talk again until next summer. Jude and Florence’s witty banter and chemistry make them perfect together, except Jude has a girlfriend. The timing never seems to be right for them. Together, Hunter and Crouch bring listeners into the story by vocalizing all the emotions their characters are feeling and expressing with beauty and a cadence that is sure to captivate anyone.
