She is engaged and happy as she enjoys each of the sports, which include soccer, basketball, tennis, ice skating, golf, and many more. Young readers will find this book bright, colorful, and engaging, while also being exposed to a wide array of sports to try out for themselves. There are several rhyming words in the story, and the short two- to four-word sentences are sure to help emerging readers find success or keep preschoolers’ attention. The artwork is a wonderful addition, adding color and joy; the girl’s sparkling eyes and wide toothy smile are sure to draw in young children even before they try out the words on their own.
VERDICT This wonderful early reader about a variety of sports is a great addition to any preschool or elementary library collection.
