Gr 8 Up–Set shortly after the events of So, This Is Christmas, this novel finds Finley, a resident of Christmas, OK, who shared a kiss with a fellow boarding school classmate and enemy turned romantic interest, Arthur, wondering where they stand. As the new semester begins and a new holiday looms over the maybe couple, will they finally be together? Or will further drama keep them apart? With the same heart and fun of the first novel, enough of the backstory is shared to give new readers or readers who may have forgotten some of the finer details of the first book an enjoyable read. There is plenty of new drama to keep readers interested. With witty back-and-forth dialogue, plenty of fun side characters, and an absolutely swoon worthy ending, this is a delightful romantic comedy. Finley has blonde hair and is cued white, and Arthur, who is British, is biracial Indian and white.
VERDICT A worthy purchase for libraries where the first book was popular and holiday romance-themed reads are constantly in demand.
