Hearing about each Smurf and their characteristics is fun and can be helpful for readers who haven’t seen the cartoons or movies. The amount of text on each page is just right for emerging readers as well as for adults reading aloud to young children. Pictures are bright, colorful, and engaging, and help readers to make connections with the story. Even though there are some sinister characters, the book has an overall positive message about believing in oneself and being helpful to others.
