PreS-K–Some of the pages are hidden, like pocket doors, within the pages of others. So when the puppy is seeking the hamster, readers have to pull two halves of the page open. “Peekaboo!” It’s quite a surprise! Children will be anxious to close it up and try it again. Handles are provided to make it easier, and small creatures, such as a benevolent spider, look on with affection. A shy bunny, a grumpy cat, and more are similarly discovered. A mirror in the last scene allows readers a peekaboo moment, too.
VERDICT This is gratifying and sure to engage children in a tried-and-true and much beloved game.
