PreS-K–The initial double-page spread of each board book section sports a clean, white background with two words—a color word and a common object (“green,” “leaf”) followed by a cut-out shape of the object. After turning each page, the question “Can you find…?” provides a list of five similarly colored objects for the child to begin their search on the facing page. That facing page has an infinite number of small shapes that make the sleuthing of the particular object much harder than it would seem. The endpaper cleverly gathers all the shapes together for another multi-colored opportunity to seek and find.
VERDICT Appropriately difficult for this age group, this board book gives youngsters excellent practice with figure-ground perception.
