Readers will assist in the hunt by lifting flaps (each is a potential hiding place), and along the way they will discover a plethora of creatures. Each spread is an opportunity to count the colorful cartoon animals. Before the missing sea horse is finally found, readers will meet baby sea turtles, anglerfish, shrimp, jellyfish, and more. The missing baby is revealed to have been resting in its father's pouch the entire time. All of the sea horses are reunited on the final pages, just in time for bed.
VERDICT Readers will enjoy this underwater counting romp, and its generous size and engaging art make it perfect for toddler storytime.
