Gr 1-3–Rainbows are being sucked into the clouds by a malfunctioning machine! The ponies need to find a way to stop this, as the crystals that power their pony magic need rainbows. They work together to get to the machine, even going through a storm. Once there, they find a snail stuck inside the machine. One tug, and the snail comes out. After saving the day, the ponies ride rainbows home. This story has easy-to-understand verbiage and a lot of repetition. That being said, there are some more difficult and made-up words, such as Equestria and Alicorn. Every page has artwork, though some of it does not help with comprehension of the text, especially for those who are unfamiliar with My Little Pony characters and the central themes that are related to the series. While the story does have a strong plot, the text is long-winded, and newer readers may need patience to understand what is happening.
VERDICT Good for fans of My Little Pony, this book is not a must-buy for early reader collections.
