PreS-Gr 2—Jenkins's warm voice and caring demeanor will resonate with children and adults alike. Each song teaches about a different culture in a fun and inspiring way. Listeners will be transported to countries such as Germany, Russia, China, Egypt, Cuba, and Australia, learning words in different languages and practices in each culture. Children are incorporated into many songs, either with singing or percussive instruments and sounds. "Count from One to Ten" teaches children greetings and numbers in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Hebrew, Japanese, and Greek. The entrancing song "Canadian Friendship" is sung beautifully in French and English, teaching listeners how to say simple French phrases. Kids will happily join in the call and response of the Afro-Cuban song "Yemayah." The song "Differences" points out some of the differences in the English language between English spoken in England and North America, such as "lorries" vs. "trucks" or "lifts" vs. "elevators." Jenkins has a sincere and kind delivery that listeners will love.
VERDICT This is a great addition to every collection.
