Monti and Leo: A Mystery in Pocketville

Gr 1-3–Emerging graphic novel friends Monti the mole and Leo the lizard are excited about the new library exhibit of figurines owned by the haughty Mrs. Sheep. The friends go to see it and agree that collecting looks like fun—Leo has already started a rock collection. As the community visits the exhibit, everyone begins to collect things. Of course, Mrs. Sheep takes full credit. Unfortunately, her very favorite figurine goes missing. Because Monti had openly admired it, she accuses him of stealing it, and her certainty soon spreads. Although Leo almost succumbs to believing his friend is a thief, he decides to get to the bottom of it. Crisp and colorful panels contain plenty of details to engage readers. Sharp eyes will spark when they notice the magpie appearing throughout the story. Give this to fans Frog and Toad or Elephant and Piggie.
