Mommy’s Kisses and Cuddles

PreS-Gr 2–A book in verse about how mothers love their children from morning until night. With each word and stanza, readers are drawn in by endearing expressions of admiration between mother and child, as the pair do ordinary activities and chores like going to the market and setting the table for dinner. The rhythm and rhyming of the verses when read aloud sound like a lovely song being sung. Massey mirrors Ashman’s words excellently through her illustrations, which include racially and ethnically diverse mother-child duos that are representative of many cultures and backgrounds. Though not stated explicitly, the importance of one-on-one time that children need with their parents is highlighted through how the child responds and is edified in that time.
