Maisy juega fútbol

PreS-Gr 1–The latest Spanish entry in Maisy’s “First Experiences” series shows the title character and her friends playing soccer. Maisy, a mouse, suits up in uniform and engages in a fun game of the popular sport with her animal friends. A red team and a blue team face off and try to score goals. The two teams enjoy playing and even have a half-time snack ­together. The text builds up excitement and will have readers rooting for both teams. Gouache illustrations with a simple set of colors of mostly red, blue, and green adorn bright pages. A simple background of the sky and grass allows the characters to shine. All the animal friends are shown smiling ­throughout. The bright illustrations and bold lines will keep the attention of little ones, while the exciting text will keep emerging readers engaged and the large, easy-to-see font will help them make out the words. ­
