PreS-K–This quirky concept book draws on the witches’ iconic incantation from Macbeth, using rhythmic language and moody art to introduce children to a cabinet of curious ingredients drawn from the Bard’s most iconic brew. Though adult readers will catch the Shakespeare reference, the lilting rhyme and eerie, engaging illustrations lend themselves well to seasonal read-alouds. Less a primer than a giftable nod to literary fandom, it still delivers a satisfyingly spooky tone.
VERDICT A stylishly strange little spell of a book, perfect for Halloween displays or literary-curious collections.
