Luna spends half her time at Mom’s house and the other half at Dad’s, which means two Christmas trees and advent calendars! This year, her mom has organized volunteering to help out different charities and service projects. The story follows a pattern as Luna starts feeling cold, but after each time she gives to the people in need, she feels warm. The characters in the story are diverse and represent different cultures; this includes Luna, who comes from a mixed family. Lumbers’s illustrations are bright and detailed, showing happy faces and festive settings. Young readers will appreciate seeing Luna’s dad, who has brown skin, dressed up as Santa.
VERDICT A sweet addition to the Christmas section that is perfect for shared or individual reading.
