Gr 1–3—This time around, Larry, the dog that loves to travel, gets separated from Pete and his parents in Quincy Market. On the Freedom Trail in search of his boy, the pup passes familiar historic sites before he hops a train, goes to Fenway Park and Hatch Memorial Shell, and finally arrives at the Museum of Science. There, a college student helps reunite the pup with his family. The rhyming text is awkward at times: "A bridge that seemed made of gigantic guitar strings/Was just one of the city's more spectacular things." Readers are given background information about each landmark. Skewes's digitally created, bold illustrations are busy, and the colors and sizes of the font are sometimes difficult to read. Still, this could be a fun book to peruse before or after a visit to Boston.—Diane Antezzo, Ridgefield Library, CT
