Kitty and Dragon

Gr 1-2–Three distinct adventures relate the story of an unlikely friendship. Kitty, looking to escape the noise and mayhem of the village, finds solace with much-feared Dragon, who has a cozy, friendly, and—best of all—quiet cave. The second adventure features Dragon nursing an ailing Kitty to health in order to have fun flying kites. The final chapter shows Kitty and Dragon as a reconfigured odd-couple, with Kitty using magic to cure Dragon’s messy ways, only to prefer him as he was. This new series is part of Epic’s original story campaign. Previously featured virtually as three separate early readers, this is really more of an early reader than a chapter book, but clocks in at over 100 pages. New readers will love the slick design and modern full-color illustrations that can be seen on every page and assist in moving the plot along. Each story ends with a visual joke that will be sure to elicit giggles. The vocabulary is simple and at only a few sentences per page, new readers will gain confidence.
