She and her classmates work hard on the project, and then it’s up to Keyana to present it during the schoolwide assembly. Keyana isn’t sure about this—it’s a little scary to talk in front of so many people. But with help from family and classmates, Keyana shines. Diverse secondary characters and lively cartoon-style illustrations support this goal-oriented story. Keyana’s supportive family and school staff help her be the best she can be. While the story might feel slightly didactic, it is a still a strong narrative about goal-setting, finding support where you need it, and finding your voice.
VERDICT A good choice for classrooms where projects are in the works.
