Gr 3–5—McGowan-Lowe, a 12-year-old who has been collecting bones since he was 6 and blogging since 7, offers up a solid selection that should inspire budding archaeologists. He presents mind-boggling information, accompanied by beautiful, detailed color images and comical sketches that will intrigue and captivate. Each spread contains a different topic ("What Are Bones?" or "How to Recognize a Bone") as well as content on the bones of specific animals, from the tiny (a hedgehog) to the gigantic (a triceratops). Novice bone collectors will also learn what to take into the field with them, how to identify various bones, and how to determine the age of an animal when it died. An excellent addition to the science curriculum.—
