PreS-K–It’s an all-out cat scramble for the sole piece of sausage! In an act of pure selfishness, a yellow cat calls dibs on the delectable piece of meat. Dissatisfied, the feline’s four siblings make it their mission to swipe it. Their hilarious harebrained schemes involve actions like sneaking under the carpet and using a fishing pole. Each is furiously thwarted because their sibling is just too sharp. Eventually, the matter devolves into a furry mess where all end up losing. While it is presented as a comedic outcome, the point is not dulled. With minimal text, onomatopoeia, and individually colored cats, this book calls for participation. Even the act of sharing itself could be incorporated into activities to reinforce the message.
VERDICT Share this fantastic feline frenzy with young readers and you may end up with one less cat-tastrophe.
