PreS-Gr 3–If an Elf on the Shelf is moved, or even touched, it can be a “a troubling elftastrophe of disastrous proportions.” The Elf on the Shelf does not like to be touched, because the Elf’s Christmas magic will disappear. This book acts a guide for those involved in an elftastrophe by providing three steps to remedy the situation. Illustrations show a Scout Elf springing, jumping, and dancing. Elements such as large font, text arrangement, and arrows help beginning readers. A refrain of “Don’t Touch That Elf!” and spirited colors are used throughout. The plot is quite contrived and a bit forced, but children who love Elf on the Shelf will love this book.
VERDICT Add to the collection for any Elf on the Shelf fans.
