PreS–This lyrical title about enjoying winter, snow, and friends can be sung to the tune of “I’m a Little Teapot.” It starts with, “I’m a little snow pal, head to toes. Here are my buttons, here is my nose.” The accompanying illustration shows a traditional snowman with a top hat, carrot nose, stick arms, and gloves for hands. A rabbit, deer, and cardinal are shown in the background; along with other animals, they will show up on later pages as the adventure continues. Other snow people, including a snow gal with a sweater, are also introduced in this upbeat title about snow friends. Cheerful illustrations support the accompanying text; they are clear, easy to decipher, and can lend themselves to discussion with young readers. At the end of the book, the snow people joyfully sing, and the animals have a good time, too. The text closes with, “We are little snow friends big and small. Snow pals and snow buds, one and all. Now the snow has fallen, let’s have fun! So happy snow day to everyone!”
VERDICT A recommended addition to library collections in need of new titles on winter and snow.
