Gr 4 Up–How does a person find a job that they enjoy doing? This inspiring book helps readers do just that. Nelson and MacIsaac profile 25 people of diverse backgrounds who love their jobs. Each spread shows a photo of a person and how and why they got their job. There are boxes of information about other people who have the same job, specific vocabulary about the job or similar jobs, ideas for how to get work like the person profiled, as well as spin-off jobs (e.g., after a barber is profiled, a make-up artist is mentioned as is an esthetician). At the beginning of the book there is an explanation of different types of training, and at the end, there are some ideas about work of the future. This is a wonderful compilation sure to interest students. Back matter includes a glossary.
VERDICT A solid choice for a library needing middle grade nonfiction about careers.
