Baby-Toddler–Ghosts call out Halloween-themed puns and disappear in this short counting book for babies. The squishy ghosts look through die-cut pages, and their designs, along with most of the art, are appliqué-themed and reminiscent of clip art. The five ghosts look the same, except each one is wearing a different colored hat and holding a unique item, such as a heart or a book of spells. Each spread has a background of a bold color with a different design, including leaves, stars, and bats. The colors are bold and contrasting, and the letters in each pun are a variety of colors for easy differentiation. The book doesn’t stand out much from other counting books or Halloween stories for the very young.
VERDICT A basic counting book for babies that is mildly Halloween-themed.
