Horsetail Hollow: Stupendously Samson

Gr 1-4–Ingredients for a successful story: take one classic fairy tale, turn it upside down, and stir. Add a few delicious twists and some occasional illustrations for a scrumptious result. Maddie, Evie, and Macy are spending some time together at the family farm, Horsetail Hollow, which has a secret magic wishing well. Sisters Maddie and Evie have no idea when they throw in a penny and make a wish together that enchanted adventures would quickly ensue. Now they are ready to share the secret with their friend Macy and expand the adventuring to include all three of them. The accidental discovery of the wishing well, hidden behind a clump of trees, leads to the appearance of majestic fairy-tale horses, fairies, goblins, princesses, and more. Because their parents were overheard talking about having to sell the ranch, the girls try to figure out how to use the wishing well to solve that problem. The next time a magical horse appears, it is Samson, the horse from Sleeping Beauty. The girls are swept into a fairy-tale world with a touch of peril, where their quick wits and bravery help save the day. After multiple adventures in what could be a dream, or not, the girls proclaim, “Why make a wish for yourself, when your wish could make everyone happy?”
