Gr 2-5–A delightful, illustrated field guide for young readers on the sea turtle. In spreads with realistic color drawings, information is paced out through blocks of text paired with images, spacing tidbits throughout. Using this method, the creators cover how to study sea turtles (and the tools employed), description of sea turtles, their life cycle, species of sea turtles, a world map showing where turtles live, what they eat, their symbiotic and parasitic relationships with other species, mating, nesting, predators, human impact, and conservation. The only image of people, who have different skin tones, shows them involved in conservation. This book could be an inspiring guide for budding scientists and those with a special interest in animals. Back matter includes a glossary and index.
VERDICT Highly recommended and has great value in library collections, especially where schools have STEM programs focused on conservation.
