Girl on a Wire

Gr 7 Up—Sixteen-year-old Jules Maroni's goal is to be a high-wire walker like her father. After her family is offered a place in the new Cirque American, Jules believes the Amazing Maronis are on their way to the top. Unfortunately, their rivals, the Flying Garcias, are now working for the same circus, and they must either work together or be each other's downfall. Girl on a Wire takes the listener deep into the world of the American circus. Bond has created a main character who not only is willing to test the limits people put on her, but also to delve deep into her own perceptions of those around her. Marisol Ramirez's narration is smooth and flowing, with enough voice variations to give the listener some insight into the characters.
