PreS-K—A playful lemur leads a group of his buddies on a wild adventure through the rain forest. The gang munch, crunch, chase, and race until they run into a crocodile. When they encounter the threat, their journey is swiftly reversed as they flee and return to their tree for a nap. Sandall's collage spreads wonderfully convey the lemurs' energetic movements as they dash and tumble across the pages, and clever layouts channel the momentum of the animals' jaunt. The spirited illustrations are accompanied by snappy, short rhymes with a contagious refrain, "Follow me, follow me, follow me!"
VERDICT A winsome selection suitable for storytimes, due to its large-format illustrations, as well as for one-on-one sharing. Readers will want to follow the lemurs again and again.

"It's time to wake up! / Come down from the tree. / Follow me, follow me, follow me!" A crowned lemur leads his lemur friends on a hunting, chasing, racing romp--right up to a hungry crocodile: "STOP!" The rhyming text is pedestrian but the words slant, bounce, and roll across the pages alongside the lemurs. The illustrations' energy is contagious.
