Easter EGGstravaganza: With Lift-the-Flap Surprises!

Grosset & Dunlap. Jan. 2024. 10p. Board $9.99. ISBN 9780593660850.

Baby-Toddler–The characters from Fantastic Mr. Fox are back to show “chiddlers” how to have “delumptious” fun with their chocolate Easter eggs. Mr. Fox suggests different ways to use the eggs, such as baking a chocolate cake, throwing them to make a mess, hiding them, and finally eating them. Fans of Roald Dahl will love the colorful illustrations and interactive flaps, but the language he created for his books may not be best repurposed for board books geared at teaching young children the English language. Although the story is lacking, illustrations and flaps are engaging enough to entertain readers.
VERDICT A secondary board book purchase for large libraries with expansive holiday collections, or for those where Roald Dahl is popular.
