E Is for Easter Egg Hunt

PreS–Based on the podcast Quentin and Alfie’s ABC Adventures, this book will appeal only to children who are familiar with the podcast and already know who Quentin and Alfie are. On Easter Sunday, Alfie, a young child with brown skin, waits excitedly for Quentin, his babysitter, to bring him on an egg hunt. Inexplicably, Alfie’s smiling parents appear either incapable or unwilling to do so themselves. Together, Quentin and Alfie find a total of six eggs. In an attempt to point out words that correspond with each letter of the alphabet, words are highlighted in alphabetical order throughout the text. There’s no conflict in the story. Even when Alfie realizes he won’t win a prize for collecting the most eggs—the winner found ten—he accepts his loss with a smile and says, “Even if I had found zero eggs, this day was worth it!” with the Z word concluding the alphabet.
