And when Desmond discovers that the ride is doomed for destruction at the end of the summer, he vows to find a way to save it in this illustrated chapter book adventure for middle graders.
Aspiring special-effects wizard Desmond has been anticipating riding the Mountain Full of Monsters with his crush, Tina, on the class trip to Crab Shell Pier. When he learns the rollercoaster is slated for demolition, Desmond raises money to save the ride's monster figures from the scrap heap. The cartoonish action and crude drawings grow repetitive, but the prankster protagonists may entertain some readers.
