PreS-K—A baby dinosaur is dirty from playing in the mud and sand, so it's bath time before bed for this lovable little guy. But, every time he tries to wash, he's stymied because he neglects to remove his shoes, shirt, pants, hat, etc. You get the idea. Mom says, in what becomes a repeated refrain: "Silly Dini Dinosaur!/Don't you know?/ You have to take your pants off…Back you go!" She finally helps him and makes sure that he's clean with a "scrub-a-dub-dub" behind his horns and under his toenails. The digital illustrations are bright, colorful, and playful. With a few sentences on each page, this nonsensical story will work well for storyhours or for one-on-one sharing. At times, the rhyme scheme is a bit off, but the overall execution works well. Pair this book with Julia Kay's Gulliver Snip (Holt, 2008) for an upbeat bath-time adventure.—Anne Beier, Hendrick Hudson Free Library, Montrose, NY
After getting thoroughly muddy while playing, Dini Dinosaur tries to get clean in the bath while fully clothed--"Scrub-a-Dub-Dub!" His patient mama takes his shoes, pants, shirt, and hat off, one by one, until little Dini is scrubbed clean. The rhyming text is bouncy, and cheerful, brightly colored computer-generated illustrations picture the bath- and bedtime routine.
