PreS-Gr 2—In this follow-up to Teddy the Dog, the confident pup decides to compete in the Strut Your Mutt dog show. His answers on the entry form say a lot about him: "Type of dog: handsome." "Class? Why, yes, lots of it!" It is clear Teddy has no idea what he's getting into. After much debate over his means of transportation (he wouldn't dare ride with the baggage or in a crate), he ends up taking a ride in a bus full of cats called the ChauFUR Express (with Fishbreath the cat from the first title making a fun cameo). Once at the show, Teddy becomes increasingly confused, and his unconventional ways ultimately get him sent home. In the end, Teddy accepts that a dog show just wasn't for him but learns that everyone is great in their own special way. The illustrations are the highlight of the book, with plenty of giggle-inducing gags.
VERDICT Fans of Teddy the Dog will enjoy Teddy's silly adventure, but this is an additional purchase and certainly not the best in show.
