Each subject's childhood and early inspirations are explored. Layouts are colorful and well illustrated with stock and media images. Text blocks are typically brief. Sidebars elucidate concepts, for example, the working of Nazi codes in Turing or a thumbnail sketch of 19th-century Scottish mathematician Mary Fairfax Somerville in Lovelace. Some titles rely on photos credited to Wikimedia, still an alarm bell for some librarians, and narratives tend to veer into hyperbole, with an excessive use of exclamation points. There are no source notes or bibliography.
