K-Gr 2–This lovely picture book follows nine children from birth to preschool who are born on the same day. The nine children sometimes parade down the street, in the park, blowing bubbles and more, often together and accompanied by their doting parents. They become friends regardless of background or identity, always on the same page, whether taking up the whole page or small vignettes. Cheerful and colorful art presents families of different compositions and identities. They have a variety of skin tones and races, such as Asian, Black, and white. Single moms, same-sex couples, and a parent using a wheelchair are featured. In one moving spread, the kids join to paint a mural centering love, peace, and inclusivity. The Spanish edition uses “she/her” pronouns in places, while the English edition doesn’t.
