PreS-Gr 1—This latest addition to the series that began with ZooBorns (S. & S., 2010)contains the same crisp and clear photographs of some unusual baby animals. Children are introduced to tamanduas, lemurs, and wombats, among others. The positions in which the animals have been captured, such as the three koalas embracing or the baby langur peeking over its mother's shoulder, are disarming. The book works well as an introduction to counting skills. The final pages have a reprise of all the animals featured, now identified by name. There are three additional pages that provide species name, home, conservation status, and a few pertinent facts.
VERDICT This attractive title is ideal for browsers and animal lovers of all stripes. Buy where the other books in the series are popular.

Who doesn't love baby zoo animals? Each spread of this numbers book, from "1 ZooBorn riding" to "10 ZooBorns sleeping," shows off adorable photos of a variety of animals participating in that activity. For slightly older kids, the critters are identified and described at the end, along with information about their conservation status and zoo home. A welcome companion to ABC ZooBorns!
