A great nontraditional princess tale and teachable sibling story, sure to be checked out in any children's collection.-Erin Olsen, The Brearley School, NY
Each of seven princess sisters has her own interest: "Orellia loved instruments," "Amaryllis loved fashion design," etc. They usually lived harmoniously, but one day "Orellia insisted Amaryllis got sequins inside her trombone," and so on. The resolution isn't as memorable as Coh's illustrations: see, for example, when the royal quarrel brings gloom on the kingdom, dimming the colors for which the princesses are named.
