By this time, member of the real 2019 Newbery committee must be feeling a bit more pressure: half of 2018 has gone by — did they catch all the worthy titles in their suggestions so far? Many books are yet to be published in the coming months — will they be able to read them all? Are they agreeing with each other’s suggestions so far? Are there head-scratchers (titles that you simply couldn’t believe that someone else would consider “distinguished)?
Heavy Medal friends, please post in comments your July Mock Newbery suggestions. Remember, please only suggest titles that have already been published in 2018, that are original works by American authors (citizens or residents,) that you have not suggested before (but it’s ok if someone else already suggested). Please suggest between 1 to 5 titles — Title/Author — no justification or explanation needed.
If you wish, please check the Terms and Criteria for details of eligibility and criteria.
The suggestions are due on July 7th. On the 8th (or shortly after) we’ll post a cumulated list.
