Gr 4-7–The Table Titans Club is back in action, and this time they’re headed to Camp Owl Care, a summer LARPing (live-action role-playing) camp. Tension among the members of the middle school Dungeons & Dragons club is thick, particularly between Kate and Alan, due to something that happened before camp began. Valeria just wants everyone to get along again and to have fun during their summer break, though their group being sorted into different houses threatens her goal. LARPing summer camp has much to offer: new friendships, daring quests and battles, and even the lurking danger of a troll as the club leaves the table and strikes out into the woods. Kurtz’s artwork is simple and colorful with minimal backgrounds, keeping the focus on the story itself. This is a sequel, but there is a two-page introduction to the characters to bring new readers up to speed, so this book can stand alone. Characters appear to be diverse.
VERDICT This D&D-themed summer camp adventure is recommended, especially where tabletop gaming is popular.
