Gr 3–5—In this humorous Korean animated film, a broken satellite drifting in space is drawn to Earth after hearing a young man's song. Once on Earth, the satellite transforms into a girl named Il-ho, complete with detaching robotic arms and rockets in her feet. She meets the aforementioned singer, Kyung-chun, who has been magically turned into a milk cow after suffering a broken heart. Kyung-chun is on the run from a robotic incinerator and a man who is trying to steal his liver with a plunger. Meanwhile, Merlin the magician, in the form of a talking roll of toilet paper, is attempting to restore balance to the world by aiding Il-ho and Kyung-chun. Quirky characters and a unique concept packed with action, humor, science fiction, fantasy, and a touch of romance make this an enjoyable film. However, viewers will have to suspend disbelief, as there is no explanation as to why most of the events happen other than that magic is involved.
VERDICT An additional purchase for libraries looking to add to an established international children's animated film collection. Fans of anime will find this movie especially appealing and will see similarities in art style.
