Mother Goose on the Loose, Updated!

The author revises her book, which was originally published in 2006 and accompanied by a CD-ROM. Inspired by Barbara Cass-Beggs’s work teaching music to toddlers and her “listen, like, learn” method, Diamant-Cohen produced an acclaimed literacy program for little ones, from infants to two-year-olds, using up-to-date research on child development and the beloved music and rhyme of Mother Goose. The book includes five programs (the earlier edition had 10), with activities and rhymes, scripts, lists of supplies, patterns for flannel boards, and 66 rhymes and songs. This edition includes some updated language, offers websites and ways to promote programs using digital media, and discusses the advantages and limitations of apps. The author also covers cultural differences, gender and racial stereotypes, children with special needs, and day care groups. Like the earlier edition, this volume explores scheduling, promoting, and evaluating the program, along with ways to tell caregivers about the developmental advantages of each activity.
